Sammy Carter
Marketing Director
Sammy Carter has been with the Amarillo Symphony since December 2020 and was promoted to Marketing Director in fall 2021. Growing up in El Paso, TX, Sammy began playing clarinet and bass clarinet in middle school band at age 12. In 2015, Sammy moved to the Texas Panhandle to attend West Texas A&M University as a music major. While at WTAMU Sammy was a student of Doug Storey and was very involved in the Sound of the West Texas Buffalo Marching Band.
Sammy also served as President of the honorary band service sorority Tau Beta Sigma for two consecutive years and in 2019 she was awarded The Baton for outstanding student leadership to collegiate bands. Through Tau Beta Sigma Sammy discovered her passion for leadership in the arts and began to pursue a career in arts administration. Sammy begun her career as the artist advisor intern for the San Antonio Symphony in Spring 2020, followed by graduating with honors in Arts Administration from WTAMU.
On her free time Sammy loves to bake, make crafts, play video games, and hang out with her two cats and Australian Shepard!
