Chamber Music Amarillo (CMA) was born in 1999 from an intimate vision: pianist David Palmer and a group of local musicians sought to bring classical music into the heart of the community through small, in-home concerts. The unique vibrancy of these performances sparked immediate enthusiasm, and the community’s passionate support soon demanded a larger stage.

This momentum inspired a transformative gift. Within five years, Dr. and Mrs. Brian Pruitt purchased and generously donated a historic building on Route 66, establishing The Fibonacci Space as CMA’s permanent home for both performance and administration. From these grassroots origins, CMA evolved into a premier cultural institution, presenting full seasons of concerts with world-class guest artists in professional venues.
A pivotal moment in CMA’s journey occurred in 2020 with the formation of a strategic partnership with the Amarillo Symphony. This alliance united two of the region’s most vital arts organizations, amplifying their collective impact and securing a dynamic future for classical music. Today, celebrating more than 25 years of artistic excellence, Chamber Music Amarillo continues its mission to enrich the cultural life of the Texas Panhandle through the power and intimacy of chamber music.
