The first meeting of the Amarillo Symphony Guild was held in May 1955 with Mrs. George Hammock presiding. Since its inception, this women's auxiliary raises awareness and funds to expand the Symphony's reach into the community. The first fundraising event in 1955, which still continues today, was the Symphony Ball. In 1962, the Guild initiated a project called Symphony Sweethearts, which evolved into the Belles and Beaux program. The Guild's fundraising activities also include Vintage Amarillo a bi-annual celebration of wine and food.
The Guild's education programs include Lunch & Listening, and it provides service to the community through its Instrument Express and Belles and Beaux programs. The Guild also serves Symphony musicians with its Orchestra Courtesy program.
Adding a new program, the Guild began a new program entitled the Young Artist Project whereby the Guild will fund weekly private music lessons during school hours to gifted music students who would not otherwise be able to afford them.
We welcome you to join us in continuing our tradition of supporting the Amarillo Symphony.
