EAST MEETS WEST
Kimbo Ishii-Eto, conductor Karen Han, erhu
8 pm Jan. 23-24, 2009 Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts
After the exciting world premiere of a newly commissioned work, we introduce the mysterious erhu - similar to the viola and tracing its Chinese roots back 1,000 years. You've heard Karen Han perform in The Joy Luck Club and The Passion of the Christ, but hearing the erhu's master in person simply cannot be missed. Tchaikovsky's immortal Pathetique is the perfect counterpoint to these exotic works.
